How much flooring do I need?
Divide your total floor area by how many square metres one pack covers, then add a wastage allowance for cuts, offcuts and breakages — always round up to a whole pack. Simple rectangular rooms need less wastage; rooms with lots of alcoves, or a diagonal or herringbone lay pattern, need more.
Measure the longest length and width of the room in metres, then multiply them to get the floor area.
Frequently asked questions
Laminate, LVT and engineered wood all come in different plank sizes and pack quantities, so the m² one pack covers genuinely differs by product — always check the actual figure on the pack you're buying and adjust the calculator if it differs from the preset.
